Preschool serves kids roughly 2 to 4 years old. Our center is proactive in potty training during this phase of their development. Colorado's ratio for preschool is 1:8—one teacher for every eight children. We staff to that ratio and don't exceed it.

We use a structured curriculum. Teaching Strategies Creative Curriculum is common across Colorado centers, and we follow a similar research-based framework. Lessons are hands-on and themed. A week on insects might include a bug hunt outside, an ant farm observation, counting plastic bugs, and painting ladybugs. Kids aren't sitting at desks. They're rotating through learning centers—blocks, dramatic play, art, science, literacy, and manipulatives.

We work on school readiness skills—recognizing letters and numbers, writing their name, counting to 100, and managing emotions.

We work on school readiness skills: recognizing letters and numbers, writing their name, counting to 100, identifying shapes and colors, following multi-step directions, and managing emotions. Social skills get as much attention as academics—sharing, taking turns, using words instead of hands, writing their name, and cleaning up after themselves. If a child struggles with transitions or has big feelings, we work through it with them and keep you informed.

Outdoor play happens daily unless weather is unsafe. Art projects are part of the curriculum—expect paint-covered shirts and glitter in the car. Parent-teacher conferences happen as needed, and we'll reach out sooner if we see concerns or big growth spurts. Preschoolers also start participating in center-wide events—holiday programs and occasional field trips to local parks.

Widefield Child Care is open Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. We're closed on major federal holidays. Tuition is the same every month regardless of holidays or closures. Snack is included in tuition.

Many of our preschool families are preparing for kindergarten entry in District 3 schools. We're familiar with their kindergarten expectations and registration timelines, and we'll help you navigate that process when the time comes.
